ToyTracker

News

It's been a little while but ToyTracker 1.6 will soon be released. ToyTracker 1.6 will be a free upgrade for all current users which adds some useful features and fixes several bugs. A list of new features can be found below. FleetTracker is still under development. FleetTracker will address the challenge of easily tracking company vehicles. Please feel free to email me suggestions and questions.

Description

ToyTracker began because I wanted to track the maintenance I was doing on my Jeep. I couldn't find any program for OS X that came anywhere close to what I wanted, so I decide to write my own. When writing the program I kept it as customizable as possible so that it could be used for cars, motorcycles, boats, or anything else requiring maintenance. You can track maintenance by date, mileage, hours, or even a user specified metric.

The program will track maintenance, record commonly used parts, track gas usage/mileage, as well as general info about the car/boat/whatever. All of this information is incredibly useful when trying to sell your vehicle, as it raises it's value. You are able to printout a listing of all maintenance and repairs done to the vehicle, and even printout a "sticker" giving general information about the vehicle to be displayed in your car's window.

Here are several screen shots:

The "light" version of ToyTracker will track 1 vehicle and is completely free. If you wish to track up to 3 vehicles you'll want the limited version for $15, and the unlimited version sells for $30.

FAQ

Why would I pay for this when I can keep track of it with FileMaker or Excel... or even the little maintenance schedule in my car's owner's manual?

As far as the owners manual, who actually sticks to that schedule? ToyTracker lets you setup your own maintenance schedule and record repairs.

If you want to spend the time to continually enter repetitive data into excel or FileMaker be my guest. Or go ahead and spend the time and make a spiffy spreadsheet or database that will make things slightly less repetitive. But here's hopin you don't spend more than 20 minutes on it, since you'd only be saving yourself a whopping $15 :-P

Will there be a Windows release?

There is similar software for Windows, so I'm not in a rush to release it for windows. However, it wouldn't require much work to do the port. If there is interest, let me know. Pricing would be the same. If I get some interest in a Windows version, I'll do it.
